PTML Customs Command Hands Over Seized Arms, Ammunition to NCCSALW in Major Operation.

The Port Terminal Multiservices Limited PTML Command of the Nigeria Customs Service under the watch of Comptroller Joe Anani, customs area controller of the Command has intersected Arms and ammunition uncovered in 25 different occasions during examination of imported vehicles between 2022 to 2025.

Breakdown of the seized arms and ammunition are; Five (5) pistols of different make, One (1) Crossman pump master riffle, One hundred and thirty two (132) numbers of Remington live cartridges, Fifty one (51) numbers of 9mm Lugar live ammunition, Four (4) numbers of 9mm magazines, Forty (40) numbers of 9mm, NIMFC 30-30 blank and hollow ammunitions, One hundred and eighteen (118) of 9mm empty shells.

The seizures are as a result of a fallout of the collective due diligence of the Command and other sister agencies in the port. ” We’re using this occasion to reiterate that PTML Customs Command remains a no go area for unlawful trade under any guise,” he said .

“As a command, we have an unshaken commitment to implement the Revised Kyoto Conversation, which is a World Customs Organization WCO instrument for trade facilitation while using available manpower and technology to exercise the required control for import and export trade,” he stated.

“Under the NCS Modernisation Project, which began in the command, the command, the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS) also known as B’Odogwu has raised the bar of our productivity. I am pleased to announce that the PTML command will receive scanners soon as part of the modernisation project, and our capacity to detect concealments, like these arms and ammunition would be greatly enhanced,” he added

On revenue collection, Two (2) days to the end of the month, the command recorded a total of Forty four billion fifty eight million, four and sixteen hundred, sixty five Kobo (#44,058,849, 416.65), surpassing Forty billion, four hundred and ninety seven million, five hundred and ninety four thousand, two hundred and twenty three naira, eighty nine kobo (#40,497,594,223.89) collected in January 2025 by #3,561,255,192.76 about 8.8% increase in revenue.

“On behalf of the Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR PhD, I hereby handover the seized arms and ammunition to the National Center for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapon,(NCCSALW) for appropriate action,” he concluded.
