Ogun 1 Customs Command Intercepts Rolls-Royce, Other Goods Worth #1.4 Billion.

The Ogun 1 Area Command, Idiroko of the Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted 3 Units of Vehicles including a Rolls-Royce worth several billion of Naira.

A breakdown of the seizures include; 4,424 (50kg) bags of foreign parboiled rice, equivalent to seven (7) trailer loads, 1,936 parcels of coconut size Cannabis Sativa, 105 pieces of pneumatic tyres, 21 bales and 3 sacks of used clothing, and 6,400 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

The Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the seized items is out at #1,401,531,923.95 representing a significant economic loss to smugglers but a huge gain to the nation’s national economy and security.

On revenue collection, the Command generated a total sum of #45,054,191.00 which is higher than the #35,327,852.00. The amount represents a commendable increase of 27.4%. According to the, the remarkable feat is a reflection of the Command”s enhanced compliance drive, improved monitoring of border activities, and robust stakeholders engagement.

However, in the spirit of inter-agency collaboration, the Command handed over the seized cannabis sativa to the Commander NDLEA, Idiroko Special Command for further investigation and prosecution.

The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller GA Otunla commended his gallant officers and men for their resilience and dedication. “I appreciate the support of our sister agencies as well as the cooperation of patriotic members of the border community for their continued support with credible intelligence,” he said.

“The fight against smuggling is a collective responsibility. We shall continue to build on collaboration, intelligence sharing, and innovation, in line with the policy of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, dsm, fnipr, fniia psc (+), who has been consistent in his drive for consolidation, collaboration, and intervention,” Otunla added.
