Tincan Island Customs Command Collects #747.07 Billion in Six Months.

The Tincan Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has collected a total sum of #747, 079,233,259.91 as revenue for the first half of 2025.

In a statement made available to newsman, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka said that the figure indicate a remarkable increase of #171,719,786, 247.68 when compared to the first half of 2024, which was #575, 359, 447, 022.23.

He said that figure represents a growth of approximately 29.85% increase and has achieved a 98.3% of the Command’s expected revenue collection for the first half of the year 2025.

Comptroller Onyeka said that the command collected #226,412,735,766.23 in January 2025 as against the sum of #88,430,128,122.76 in the same period of 2024, while in the month of February, a total of #103, 254,292 293, 823.33 more than that of the previous year which was #100,253,187,122.76.

Comptroller Onyeka said that the months of March to May 2025 witnessed an increase with the collection of #128,266,643,816.08, #245,020,168,704.83, #128, 446,323, 224. 79 respectively. The above figures showed an increase when compared to the Command’s expected monthly revenue target of #127,055,833,289.88.
Revenue collected in the months of March to May 2024 are; #115, 208, 066,256.20, #95,703, 614,360.55 and #92, 671,603, 418.04 respectively.

However, revenue collected in the month of June 2025 stood at #125,679,068,853.75 above that of the previous year which was #83,192,847, 758.97.

He said that the first half of the year, the Command received 3,450, Single Goods Declaration (SGDs) under the B’Odogwu clearance system and has successfully processed and exited 2,749 entries.

Also, he said that since the innovation and its successful implementation, the Command had organised several online and physical trainings, and workshops to provide firsthand knowledge to all stakeholders on the operations of the system.

He further disclosed that a total of 282 vessels reported at the Command in the first quarter of the year, with import tonnage comprised of Bulk cargoes such as bulk wheat, bulk malt, lab chemicals, drilling rods, bulk sugar, aluminum nitride general cargoes among others.
On Anti-smuggling, the Command seized and successfully handed over illicit drugs worth #8,053,225,000.00 to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The success was achieved through the timely interception of x20ft container which contains 128 packets of Cannabis Sativa a, 97 packets of Crystal methamphetamine and 175 packets of Cannabis Sativa with a total weight of over 100 kilograms. Also, the Command confiscated Arms, Ammunition and other military equipment concealed in a 1x20ft container which was conveying Four used vehicles. The items recovered include;
Rigger P345 Pistol with reg. No. 664-75425, 23 GEN 4 Austria Pistol with reg. No. TO 6252, 100 rounds of live ammunition of mm, 34 rounds of blank ammunition of 9mm, 4 rounds of blank ammunition, 5 magazine, 2 handcuffs, and 1 small iron touch light.

TO ensure it safety, the Command handed over the weapons of the Department of State Security (DSS), Tincan Island Command, alongside the consignée and the declaration.

Onyeka noted that the handover exercise underscores the commitment of the Command to uphold and promote national security by safeguarding the National borders against the influx of small arms and light weapons, as well as promoting inter-agency’s collaboration with all security agencies in the port.
