Comptroller Frank Onyeka, the Customs Area Controller, Tincan Island Port Command has said that to achieve a safe and prosperous nation, all security agencies in the country must prioritize National Security and reinforce collaboration among themselves.
Speaking while receiving the Commanding Officer Nigeria Navy Forward Operating Base Badagry, Navy Captain Omotayo Busuyi Oyeleye in his office, Comptroller Onyeka noted that beyond the core functions of revenue generation, trade facilitation and suppression of smuggling activities, Tincan Island Port Command also aims at building a strong and formidable synergy with all security agencies in order to deter criminal elements from perpetuating their nefarious activities through the seaport. He described such action as detrimental to national development.
Therefore, he lauded the efforts of the Nigerian Navy for providing adequate maritime security against sea criminals.
In his submissions, the Commanding Officer praised the Nigeria Customs Service for always rising to the occasion of joint patrol disclosing that such input by the Service has always been pivotal to the success of joint operations.
In another development, Comptroller Onyeka paid a familiarisation visit to the Controller, Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services PTML and Tincan Island Commands. During the visit which was held at the Quarantine Office in Tincan, he reassured the agency of continued collaboration and expressed his commitment to integrating the Quarantine Service into the command’s activities for better synergy.
