Comptroller Onyeka Engages Officers on Customs Processes.

The Customs Area Controller,Tincan Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Frank Onyeka has stressed the importance of conducting thorough examination of consignments before their release from the port.

Addressing officers during a parade, he admonished officers to carry out diligent inspection to avoid unnecessary stop-and-search upon departure. He highlighted the need for national security to be prioritized in all decisions.

He also commended the workforce for their contributions to the Command’s revenue performance in January, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence. However, he announced plans to organize capacity building workshop aimed at enhancing the knowledge of both officers and stakeholders on Customs Processes.

In addition, he cautioned officers to maintain professionalism and civility in the interactions with the trading public. He warned that any reports of misconduct would not be tolerated.

Furtherance, played host to the newly deployed Director of State Security Service, Mr SM Kayode, Executive Chairman of African Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFLON) Alhaji Akeem Ayibojo and his members who paid a courtesy to the command.

The visit, held separately within the command, reaffirmed the commitment of both organizations to collaborate in ensuring smooth port operations and preventing the entry of harmful products.

Reacting to some of the technical issues raised by APFLON, he said that the command is repositioned toward promoting the three core mandates of the Comptroller-General of Customs which are to collaborate, consolidate and innovate, toward creating a safe and conducive working environment that will not pose a threat to the nation and its citizenry.

He therefore urged all stakeholders to broaden their knowledge on the implementation of new policies on the service and that the soon to be launch B’Odogwu clearance system in the command by the CGC, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, will further boost the efficiency of the Customs operations.
