…. Rebrands Command with Infrastructural Development

The Western Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has played host to the Executive Members of the Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN).

The Customs Area Controller Comptroller PN Ntadi, while speaking with the MAJAN Exco Members, said that the command has resolved to bring down smuggling activities to the bearest minimum under his watch.

During discussed, Comptroller Ntadi said that the rebranding of the Command was born out of the desire to leave a legacy that will outlive his tenure.

He said that the busy market under the bridge in front of the Command’s gate was inhabited by street urchins, living in all manner of makeshift business structure was no longer in existence and the hoodlums and urchins who occupied the vicinity and constitutes nuisance has been flushed out completely leaving us with a serene environment.

While conducting MAJAN Excos around the newly renovated flat bed boats with seats, two newly constructed hostel accommodation, office blocks and other relevant facilities that will aid smooth anti smuggling operations in the creek, Comptroller Ntadi attributed the innovation to the support he got from people who knows what it takes to fight smuggling activities on the waters. He said that some of the boats were named after some personalities who visited the command to encourage him and also help to boost the morale of officers and men of the Command. The boats were named after ACG Orbih, DCG Bomodi, Comptroller Shuaibu since and ACG Olomu.

Other facilities in the command include new hostels, office blocks presently under construction and a well renovated jetty.

Restructured shed facilities were rebuild to accommodate officers and men who were on duty at Ere, Igbokoda, and bar beach axis.

He said that the command under his watch procured branded Raincoats, medicine and other medical equipment, first aid anti snake medication to help tackle snake bite scorpion sting and other ailments in the line of duty.

Ntadi said he was grateful to MAJAN and other well meaning Journalists in the beat for speaking out fearlessly and truthfully in their reportage on issues concerning the sector irrespective of who’s ox is gored.

Reiterating his confidence in the press, he said that the fire of true and uncompromised reporting will always be uphold in the profession.

Comrade Jerry Aguigbo, MAJAN President, in his remark, thanked the Comptroller Ntadi for the warm reception and praised him for the ongoing construction, reconstruction of physical structure and facelift of the infrastructure at the command. He said, “With the level of work already done, the Western Marine Command is now strong and can be compared with other government agencies around the house world. The present outlook is so befitting that it could rival with what is obtainable at the headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service.
