Revenue Collection in Ogun 1 Command is Improving says Compt Otunla.

The Customs Area Controller of Ogun 1 Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller GA Otunla said that revenue collection in the command has improved with the introduction of some strategic interventions.

Speaking with Global Freight News recently, Comptroller Otunla said that revenue collection in the command has been improved upon.

According to him, “I and my management team has jack up on our revenue collection to #45 million higher than the #15 million that we met. We introduced some mechanisms to block all areas of revenue leakage.”

He said that all imports that are supposed to escape has been channeled to the baggage for proper duty collection.

He urged his officers not relent in their fight against smuggling as it is no yet Uhuru.

He thanked the CGC and his management team for their unwavering support in logistics and encouragement.

He said that the high cost of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) has helped to reduce smuggling of the products.

“We are giving smugglers the fight for their money. My regime operates zero tolerance in the fight against smuggling. So far, there has not been any casualty. The Command’s anti-bunkering team are not resting on their oars as they have continued to police all nooks and cranny of the border areas,” he said.

He said that the command seized over 4000 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice which is about 7 trailer load.

On his relationship with stakeholders, he said that they enjoy robust interaction with all stakeholders.

According to him, “We have regular meeting with stakeholders including traditional rulers and community heads. So far, our relationship is very cordial, he added.

Speaking on Corporate Service Responsibility (CSR), he said that his command is planning to organize a football competition with the youths. This move he said will motivate them positively and productively.

He also said that the command through the support of the CGC is planning to assist some identified communities with boreholes.

He therefore advised his officers to remain hard working and more diligent in their duty thrust.

“We have sent names of outstanding performing officers to the headquarters for the CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, recognition and encouragement. This recognition happens on every 26 of January during the annual World Customs Organisation (WCO) Day.
